In our aging population, exercise has proven to prevent disease, lower the risk of falls, improve mental health and well-being, strengthen our social ties, and improve cognitive functions. As we age, it is normal for us to have stamina and movement issues that we didn’t have in our youth. Participating in a regular exercise program can positively impact our health as well as our mental and emotional wellbeing. It can help give us more energy and greater self-confidence, which enables us to embrace our later years with gusto!
In every class, we go higher and higher to push our endurance and boost our cardiovascular function. We are strengthening our lungs with our breathing exercises! That extra breath gives our lives a little more stamina today that we didn’t have yesterday.
We will move into strength training as we progress onward. We will use simple, low impact bodyweight training that can be done at home to help reverse muscle loss and burn body fat.
For our emotional state of mind, meeting together to exercise with friends is enjoyable and stress relieving. As we exercise in a group setting, it also provides an added layer of safety for you. The instructor provides supervision and a watchful eye to avoid any injury.
